He brewed all the beer for a while, but after a series of disagreements with his partners, he left at the end of 1982 to join Paul Hadfield and another business partner in setting up a new brewpub on the waterfront in Victoria. That was Spinnakers, which opened in 1984 and is still thriving today while Horseshoe Bay Brewing only lasted for a few years.
